Strips and Braids

Do you want a quick and easy way to use up your scrap fabric pile? Or do you have a jelly roll or 12 fat quarters to work with? This is a fantastic way to use up your scraps and create a beautiful quilt piece to cherish or use as a baby quilt. I created this Strips and Braids quilt as part of the Summer Scrap Elimination Project with Swan Amity.

Depending on what you choose, you’ll need to create 252 strips measuring 6.5” x 2.5”. Then you will create braids using 36-38 strips. Please watch my tutorial on YouTube HERE for detailed video to support you!

As you use up your scraps, you will end up with a wonderful quilt piece to cherish. Mine has so many memories from each piece of fabric! The little maple leaves fabric was purchased on one of my trips home to Canada, where I’m originally from.

I’d love to see your makes! Please tag me on Instagram or Facebook @hellosewlsister and use hashtags #sewlsister #stripsandbraidsquilt #summerscrapelimination . Special thanks to Swan Amity for putting together an amazing program!
